More on the procedure...

They decided they don't want to do it outpatient. It's going to be at least a 1 night stay. Now I'm a little more worried. The more info I give them about her condition, the more they act concerned. I think they think she won't handle it all that well. They mostly do this procedure on kids like Charlie, but one lady I talked to referred to it as a "drooling problem" (I quickly corrected her) so maybe the kids they are used to aren't as bad as Charlie. She hardly has a "drooling problem". If it was JUST drool, I'd never consider a medical procedure like this. Just stick a bib on the kid ya know?

So have they done this on a very severe kid or not!?

I'm doing it, regardless. Even if they haven't done THIS procedure on a kid like Charlie, the anesthesiologist most certainly has experience with kids like her, and structurally, nothing is different with her glands so the doctor shouldn't have any problem there. It's just putting her under that has them being extra cautious.

Nothing like calling me up and telling me we have to stay at least one night "because of her condition" to freak me out and make me even more nervous. Yeah, thanks.

I wouldn't worry too much. You know yourself that Charlie is a unique patient. They probably haven't done it on a kid like Charlie, because she is a one of a kind kid!

go give her a big kiss and tell her you love her. Ask all your readers for prayers before surgery if it will make you feel better. I have recently seen the power of prayer do marvelous things.
